The ALAMA Autumn Conference Venue

Midland Hotel in Manchester

The ALAMA Autumn 2016 Conference will be held at the impressive Midland Hotel in Manchester. The venue sits in the heart of Manchester with easy access to Manchester’s two train stations, Oxford Road Station (200m) and Piccadilly Station (800m).

The Midland is a traditional hotel with over 100 years of playing host to Kings, Queens, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Rock Stars and now (more importantly) ALAMA members. The bedrooms ooze charm and character and there are two fabulous restaurants on site including The French by Simon Rogan, which has been awarded four AA Rosettes. Conference Dinner

On Thursday night we make a short trip to The Monastery for our Conference Dinner – Following the completion of a £6.5 million restoration plan this striking venue is impressive, quiet and visually stunning.

ALAMA Conference Dinner Venue, The Monastery, Gorton

"The historic buildings were built between 1863 and 1872 by Franciscan monks who had come to Manchester in 1861 to serve the local Catholic community. Designed by Edward Pugin, whose father helped design the houses of Parliament, Gorton Monastery is considered one of his finest masterpieces.
It was put on the World Monuments Fund Watch List of 100 Most Endangered Sites in the World in 1997, alongside Pompeii, Macchu Picchu, The Valley of the Kings and the Taj Mahal. This was a milestone that led to the Monastery being recognised internationally for its architectural and spiritual significance..." www.themonastery.co.uk
